HeliSpirit is a leading aviation company with its head office in Kununurra and additional bases located throughout the Kimberley, Pilbara and Northern Territory. HeliSpirit provides charter, contract and tourism services supported by its own maintenance facility. The fleet consists of approximately 25 aircraft and includes AS350, B206, B206(L), R66, R44 and R22 types.

B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)

Are you looking for a rewarding career with a leading aviation company? With CASR Part 145 approved bases across the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia and a base in South Australia, Aviair proudly provides extensive charter, RPT and tourism services across the Kimberley and Pilbara with a fleet of approximately 30 aircraft. Aviair predominately maintains its own fleet which includes C510, B200, C208, PC12 and GA8 aircraft.

Due to our continued growth and exciting new opportunities, we are seeking 2 professionally minded and safety focused B1 & B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME’s) to join our Part 145 AMO team at our Kununurra base

Kununurra is an iconic town with an interesting history and stunning natural beauty. Life in this dynamic location for individuals and families are abundant with aquatic, sporting, camping, waterfall chasing and other recreational opportunities. 

About You:

  • Possess minimum 2 years work experience as an AME, preferably with a sound knowledge of the Civil Aviation Regulations
  • Possess experience working on aircraft within our fleet or similar
  • Be highly motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a tight knit team as well as independently in a fast-paced environment, able to problem-solve and provide concise recommendation
  • Be capable of multi-tasking and achieving goals and objectives
  • Be computer literate
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening (DAMP)
  • Ability to obtain an ASIC

About the Role 

Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform aircraft maintenance in accordance with the aircraft’s approved maintenance data
  • Ensuring all parts and materials are airworthy and appropriate for their application
  • Reporting all defects or faults identified during maintenance of aircraft or aeronautical products to the allocated Maintenance Co-ordinator
  • Ensuring all certifications are made in accordance with the Aviair approved systems of certification

Alternate Head of Flying Operations (AHOFO)

HeliSpirit is seeking an Alternate Head of Flying Operations (AHOFO) to join our operation. We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate with a strong focus on safety and understanding of current and proposed aviation legislation. The right candidate will have the ability to work in a team environment, with a proven track record in a leadership role.

Reporting to the Head of Flying Operations and the General Manager. The Alternate Head of Flying Operations is responsible for supporting the HOFO to ensure the safe and efficient operations of Company aircraft and crew and is required to assume responsibility in the absence of the HOFO.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the HOFO with various administration tasks including;

  • Ensure flight crew have all relevant information for flights they have been allocated to.
  • Ensuring pilot adherence to the Safety Management System and all associated manuals and handbooks, maintaining and reviewing the Safety Management of Company flying operations.
  • Arranging flight crew rosters, allocating qualified and approved flight crew to tasks.
  • Maintaining a record of licences, ratings and privileges held by each flight crew member including validity, recency, type endorsements and any applicable licence restrictions.
  • Maintaining a system to record flight and duty times to ensure compliance with duty and flight time limitations.
  • Ensuring compliance with loading procedures specified for the Company aircraft and proper compilation of loading documents including passenger and cargo manifests.
  • Monitoring flight crew operational standards, maintaining training records and supervising the training and checking of the Company flight crew.
  • Ensuring training and currency of flight crew in acceptance, handling or awareness of Dangerous Goods as required by the regulations.
  • Maintaining a complete and up to date reference library of operational documents (including HLS directory and ship record book) as required by the authority (CASR 119.040) for the class of operations conducted.
  • The exercise of disciplinary authority over all fight crew personnel.
  • Monitor helicopter fuel usage rates and maintain fuel records.
  • Authorising any flights by Company helicopters.
  • Contact all operational or satellite bases at least weekly to discuss any operational issues.
  • Encourage flight crew to actively participate in hazard and safety reporting

To Be Successful in this Role

Highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong understanding of current and proposed aviation legislation, and a proven history of leadership in a similar role.

  • A strong commitment to Aviation Safety
  • A current CASA CPL(H)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CASA aviation legislation, including recent and upcoming changes in legislation
  • Proactive approach to maintaining adherence to aviation legislation and legislative changes
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Minimum 2000 hours total helicopter experience
  • Minimum 500 hours turbine helicopter experience
  • R44, B206 endorsements
  • Helicopter low level rating
  • Bush experience including confined area landings and low-level operations

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Instructor Rating
  • R66 and AS350 endorsements
  • Aerial application rating with Firefighting experience
  • Longline experience
