The Osmand Range is one of the Kimberley’s lesser known spectacular ranges, filled with palms clinging to gorges, waterholes deep in crevasses and endless waves of ancient rocks rolling towards the east.
Landing at Bellburn Airstrip in Purnululu National Park, you will then transfer to an air-conditioned 4WD bus, alongside your guide, who will drive you closer to the Bungle Bungle Range. Enjoy a moderate 3-kilometre guided walk among the famous eroded towers and black and orange banded beehive structures on the Domes Walk. Your guide will then take you into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open up to form a space with awe-inspiring natural acoustics. Here you will enjoy your fresh picnic lunch that is carried in a cooler bag. Walk back along the bed of Piccaninny Creek, which flows only in the monsoon waterfall season.
You will then continue toward the northern gorges of Purnululu, which are quite different to Cathedral Gorge and the Domes at the south. An approx. 45-60 minute drive takes you northwards along the Western Wall of the Bungle Bungle Range. A rocky path forms your walkway into Echidna Chasm, which at points can narrow until it is two metres in width. Gazing skywards to the bright blue sky, the orange towering walls look as if they are lit from within, and are scattered with Livistona palm trees clinging to their vertical sides. At the end of this tour, you will return via a scenic helicopter flight to Warmun.
