Slingair Heliwork WA Lake Argyle Adventure Race
Slingair Heliwork WA comes on board as MAJOR SPONSOR of the Slingair Heliwork WA Lake Argyle Adventure Race
Slingair Heliwork WA General Manager, Peter Nottle, says the business is excited to be able to support this great adventure race.
“We will place a Jetranger helicopter on site to support the competitors. It will be available for route checks, and emergency extraction if required.”
He went on to say “Karunjie Events have a thorough risk management strategy and their local knowledge of the Kimberley environment has ensured they have covered all aspects of competitor’s safety. Our experience in emergency helicopter operations is second to none and provides added confidence in the event.”
Slingair Heliwork WA is the largest aviation company in the Kimberley and employs over 100 people across its operation which stretches from Kununurra across to Broome. The business operates both helicopters and aeroplanes and is a long term strong community supporter. Mr Nottle went on to say “This event is strategic for the local business community. We have increased the front end of our tourist season through supporting the Ord Valley Muster in May and now we see the Slingair Heliwork WA Lake Argyle Adventure Race as being an event which will attract significant numbers to the region in the shoulder season of September”.
The race is in its third year of operation and is managed by ex Kimberley local Simon Rimmer of Karunjie Events who also runs the very successful Gibb River Bike Challenge. Glenn Taylor of FitEvents, is based in Kununurra and is the race director.
Simon is ecstatic; “Who else has a stand by commercial helicopter for immediate medical evacuation just sitting there in a paddock? It’s pure gold and I can hardly believe the great fortune that brought this amazing offer of support to our Kimberley race adventure.”
