HeliSpirit to launch new tourism offering in Esperance, Western Australia
Leading WA aviation operator, HeliSpirit, have this week announced a significant investment for Esperance with the opening of a new helicopter base, which will offer scenic flights from the Esperance Foreshore.
The base is set to open on Saturday 14th November 2020, with scenic helicopter flights showcasing the region’s spectacular coastline and iconic pink lake, Middle Island’s Lake Hillier, from above.
Esperance is a domestic tourism hotspot, attracting more than 190,000 visitors each year and is renowned for its white-sand coastline, unique national parks, abundant marine life and the famed pink lakes.
HeliSpirit’s scenic helicopter flights will showcase Esperance’s natural wonders, offering unparalleled views and the opportunity to land on Middle Island for a guided walk around Lake Hillier.
Esperance Shire President, Ian Mickel, says he is excited for this service to be offered to Esperance residents and visitors alike.
“Esperance has a lot of amazing sights, what better place to see them from than the sky,” he said.
HeliSpirit are confident that by introducing this new tourism product into the Esperance region, it will not only help to attract more visitors, but also encourage visitors to stay longer and travel in shoulder periods.
HeliSpirit Managing Director, Michael McConachy, says the company has received great support from Australia’s Golden Outback CEO, Marcus Falconer, and the Shire of Esperance throughout the entire planning process.
“This is an important new base for HeliSpirit and we are proud to be committing to the Esperance region for this venture; we are confident it is going to be a success and hope that it provides benefits for all involved,” he said.
Australia’s Golden Outback CEO, Marcus Falconer, says it was great timing ahead of the popular summer and autumn seasons.
“To be able to attract such an iconic tourism operator as HeliSpirit to launch a new venture speaks volumes for Esperance’s growing popularity over the last few years and its future tourism potential,” he said.
HeliSpirit have partnered with local tourism operators to enhance the tourism offering in Esperance. Woody Island Eco Tours have welcomed the opportunity for HeliSpirit to provide helicopter transfers to Woody Island so that guests can join their offered day tours or self-explore the island.
The Esperance tourism season complements the northern Kimberley season of April to September/October perfectly, with HeliSpirit currently offering scenic flights and charter services from 11 helicopter bases across the Kimberley, Pilbara and into the Northern Territory.
HeliSpirit, together with sister company Aviair, is one of Western Australia’s most successful air tour operators and has won twenty-four tourism awards since 1996, including the Sir David Brand Award for tourism on three separate occasions, and has been inducted into the WA Tourism Hall of Fame twice. HeliSpirit has earned National Eco-Tourism accreditation as a Green Travel Leader, has been eco-certified since 2002 and holds national tourism quality assurance accreditation.
To celebrate the launch of this new operation, HeliSpirit will be running a promotion offering each guest who books on an Esperance scenic helicopter flight a chance to win a bottle of WA’s Hoochery Distillery Pink Gin.
A winner will be drawn each week and at the end of the season a feature prize will be drawn, offering the winner the option of a flight for two from Esperance to the bubblegum-pink Lake Hillier or a Kimberley getaway for two.
Flights are now available to be booked online at www.www.helispirit.com.au or through the Esperance Visitor Centre.
